How VivaEdu Works

Vivas are oral assessments where students explain and defend their work in a short recorded response. They have been used for centuries in universities as a way to confirm real understanding through dialogue. VivaEdu brings that tradition online and makes it practical for modern classes with clear timing, templates, accessibility options, and fast review tools.

Step 1

Assign a viva

Create questions and potential follow ups. Selecting lecture notes straight from your LMS to help and speed up question creation. Set prep time and response time. Enable any integrity signals or accommodations you need.

Step 2

Students defend

Students record short answers on their own time within your deadline. They can use supported accommodations where applicable.

Step 3

Review & grade

Skim transcripts, play audio when needed, fill the rubric, leave feedback, and export or sync grades to your LMS.
