Finding Students

Access the Students page from the navigation bar at the top of your instructor dashboard. This shows all students across your classes with their submission status, flagged items, and recent activity.

You can search by name or email, switch between table and card views, and sort by different metrics. Click "Profile" to see a student's full history, or "Review Latest" to jump directly to their most recent pending submission.

Student Profile View

The student profile shows all their viva submissions across your classes, organized by completion date. You can see their status (pending review, reviewed), open any session to review it, and manage their permanent accommodations.

The metrics at the top give you a quick overview of their total submissions and how many have been reviewed. Students with pending reviews appear with an orange badge, while reviewed sessions show green.

Managing Accommodations

Accommodations are accessibility settings that modify the viva experience for students who need them. These are configured per-student and apply to all future viva sessions.

Available Accommodations

Changes apply to new sessions created after saving. Existing sessions are not modified.

Student Selection in the Viva Wizard

When creating a Q&A Viva Assignment, Step 5 lets you select which students receive the viva and configure viva-wide accommodations. You can select all students, specific individuals, or use random sampling for formative assessment.

What You Can Do Here

• • Select/deselect students for this specific viva
• • Configure viva-wide accommodations (pause/resume, re-recording) that apply to everyone
• • Manage individual accommodations by clicking "Accommodations" next to each student
• • Grant extensions for individual students who need extra time

Students marked with a star icon have existing accommodations or previously granted extensions.

Granting Extensions

Extensions give individual students extra time past the due date. You can grant extensions from the wizard (Step 5), the student profile, or the batch review table.

Extension options range from no extra time up to +14 days. The student's new deadline is calculated from the original due date. Extensions are tracked per-student and persist across sessions.

Batch Review Queue

The batch review queue shows all submissions for an assignment in one place. You can review pending submissions one after another, jump to specific students, or allow re-dos for completed submissions.

Understanding the Table

• • Pending review (blue badge): Submitted but not yet reviewed. Click "Review" to open.
• • Reviewed (green badge): Already graded. Click "Open" to revisit.
• • Flags: AI-detected flags like "low understanding" appear below the student name.
• • Allow a Redo: Clears the submission and gives the student 7 days to resubmit.
• • Not submitted: Expandable section showing students who haven't completed yet.

Access the batch review from any assignment card in your review queue by clicking "View batch".

Accommodations in Viva Verification

When configuring a Viva Verification for an individual student, you can also set accommodations directly in the configuration interface. Look for the "Accommodations" button on the left panel to open the same modal shown above.

LMS Roster Sync

When using LMS integration, your class roster syncs automatically:

• • Students are enrolled when they first access VivaEdu from your LMS
• • Roster updates (adds/drops) sync from the LMS
• • Dropped students no longer see future vivas but their completed submissions remain
